Reaction on the film The Social Network

Facebook: one word, one site, millions of friends, billions of dollars worth, one big genius—Mark Zuckerberg. The story of the film revolves around Mark Zuckerberg and his invention of the world wide phenomenon, Facebook. First of all the film is not true, it is fiction. Though some parts of the film are true, most of it is just made up by the writer to spice up the film; even so the film is nicely done.

As I just said the film is a work of fiction and was made generally to entertain. I would say that the film though unreal succeeded in entertaining the viewers.

The film is good and entertaining for me because of the following reasons:

      • Witty script. During the entire film, one could not help but to quote some dialogues. I personally like the script. The dialogues are filled with humor but still the sense in the statement is preserved.
      • Right actors. I like Jesse Eisenberg. I liked him sinceZombieLand. I believe that he is very suitable for the role of Mark Zuckerbeg. He looks nerdy, he is awkward and he is funny. He also proves that he can also play a hate-able character and not only the funny role like inZombieLand. The other actors are also good. Hands down for the guys in the casting.
      • Well arrange scenes. The film uses flash backs and some ‘fast-phased’ stuffs which really helps a lot to the development of the story. The scene jumps from Mark’s cross-examination to the past when the Facebook is still on its development which is very effective in arousing the curiosity of viewers. The ‘fast-phased’ scene which is matched with quick and witty narration grips the viewers and glues them to the screen. Very good technique I should say.

      • Believable plot. The first time I viewed the film I thought it was true. Then came our movie review and I was forced to look for data about the film and I was surprised to find out that The Social Network is a work of fiction! I was fooled. I believe many people are and many people still believes that it’s true. How they must hate Mark until now! Well, for the film, it is good though. Because Facebook is the trend today the idea of making a film about it already a brilliant idea. But of course a film without an ‘evil’ element won’t be entertaining. Even though the film makers can choose to make an inspirational film they made a different approach presenting Zuckerberg as a genius, greedy and an asshole guy. Zuckerberg therefore took dual role as a protagonist-antagonist which is rare but also a very clever way of making a main character catchy. Conflict is written all over the film and Zuckerberg’s ‘asshole’ like quality made          the film even juicer. I know it must be very bad for the real Zuckerberg because             the film made him look so bad but as for the entertainment value it very much succeeded on catching the attention of the viewers. The great emotional grip of     the film made it irresistibly good.

In conclusion The Social Network is a ‘two thumbs up’ film, rich with emotion, very current, entertaining and well thought. I personally think it is a smart film. The only problem I have is that it is a work of fiction and that it made Zuckerberg looks so bad. I just hope they note it in the film that it is a work of fiction and that most of it just made up.
